Roger Mertin

Roger Mertin

I was reading the latest issue of American Photo because there was an article about "The Underrated Masters of Photography" that looked quite interesting. They also interviewed "some notable players in the photo world" for there opinions on underrated masters. Alec Soth (great photographer) recommended Roger Mertin. I really enjoy Soth's photography, so I decided to look up Mr. Mertin's work. I was blown away. I wish I had seen his work earlier. Thank you Alec Soth for opening my eyes to Roger Mertin. So without further delay some links to Mertin's work.

Hiroshi Sugimoto

Sea of Japan, Rebun Island, 1996 - Hiroshi Sugimoto

Every time I walk by the water on a cloudy day I think of this image. I could not remember where I saw it. I only remember it was taken by a Japanese photographer. So I spent the morning on Google and I found him. His name is Hiroshi Sugimoto. Not only did I recognize his seascapes but also the series he did on theatres and his wax portraits. Enough talk, here is the link to his site: Hiroshi Sugimoto

I hope you enjoy his work as much as I do.

The West End

There was a break in the rain, so I spent some time exploring the West End of Vancouver. It's a fun area to live in, but I wanted to see what happens behind the scenes (buildings). I may never walk down the road again. The alleyways are far more interesting. Am I the only one who feels this way? Ok, maybe I'll use the roads at night. Can you guess where these photos were taken? Bianca the Psychic Reader is an easy one.
